the Firm
Founded in 1956 by the late Louis Lombardi, an attorney and certified public accountant, the
firm initially focused on business law. Today we have grown to a staff of 20 employees including 9 attorneys with offices at III Winners Circle. Albany. New York. We serve the Capital District as a full service law firm with a practice emphasizing in commercial and corporate law, litigation, including personal injury. discrimination claims, labor and employment claims and securities litigation. real estate development, taxation and labor law.
We advise a spectrum of commercial clients from incubators to regional offices of national companies. The firm continues to represent clients which have expanded and been acquired by New York Stock Exchange Companies. Typically. we advise business clients on all phases of legal operations, including structure, tax planning, acquisitions, valuations, contracts and management. We design retirement plans and coordinate personal financial obiectives for principals and employees.
Our labor staff represents local and state organizations in the public employee field as well as both labor and management clients in private sector labor relations. We represent hospitals, local police and fire unions, as well as small to midsize companies with labor problems. Our litigation staff has won large awards not only in the personal injury area but in discrimination cases as well.
The Firm practice is devoted to business representation in the areas of real estate and land use, corporate and business planning and transactions, including financial planning and environmental compliance issues, estate planning and general litigation.
We devote significant time to the real estate needs of institutional clients and real estate developers. Our clients receive a full range of real estate services in areas such as major improvement and construction projects; real estate development; zoning and other municipal regulatory work; wetlands and storm water control; financing of real estate projects, investments in real estate, and the sale, purchase and leasing of real estate.
We have experience in all aspects of real estate transactions in New York, including the requirements of New York's rigorous local and state land use, zoning, and environmental laws and laws concerning the offering of real estate syndications such as homeowner associations, condominiums and cooperatives. Our real estate practice handles permits and related matters, acquisitions, sales, leasing, financing and the development of offering plans. As part of our banking practice, we are extensively involved in commercial real estate lending matters.
Our tax practice includes all aspects of federal, state and local tax planning for corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and individuals. In addition to providing tax advice with regard to corporate reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions, and leveraged buyouts, members of the firm provide tax advice on major projects, including large real estate financing relating to office buildings, industrial parks, hotels and sale/leasebacks and like-kind exchanges.
Our environmental practice also includes compliance auditing and advice regarding commercial and residential real estate sales, purchases, and the leasing, financing and environmental aspects of business transactions. Our work includes permitting and compliance procedures under all state and federal regulatory programs, municipal environmental matters, and general litigation and advice related to environmental liability, land use activities, zoning and compliance with the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act. |
